What is dyslexia?

In this workshop, we look at what makes dyslexic brains different. We learn more about dyslexic strengths and challenges and how to support these learners in the classroom so that their social/emotional and academic needs are fully met.

A primer to multisensory math.

In this primer to multisensory math, we learn about the CRA approach and how we can apply it in different scenarios. This is an excellent primer for those who are considering taking the full training.

Marvellous morphology

In this workshop, we look at how the study of prefixes & suffixes can dramatically support spelling and vocabulary in a classroom. We dive into some practical instructional activities that teachers can take with them.

Supporting learners who struggle with handwriting in the classroom.

In this workshop, we look at the different physical and neurobiological reasons children struggle to write by hand. We look at strategies to support their development and discuss how and when assistive technology can be used.

Math fact fluency- A modern look at an age-old challenge.

Some children learn their math facts with relative ease. Others really struggle. In this workshop, we look at the neurobiology of memory and how to use modern brain-based strategies to support all types of learners to be successful.

Note-taking for success.

Note-taking is the most important skill barely taught in schools. In this workshop, we’ll look at why it is so important to teach note-taking, and we’ll look at some evidence-based practices and strategies that educators can use to mentor students in learning this skill.

AI & Assistive technology to support inclusion.

In this workshop, we look at what is available in the world of assistive technology. We look at the advantages and drawbacks of different approaches and how to incorporate it into barrier-free class design.

Twice-exceptional learners

Twice-exceptional, 2e, or twice-gifted people are those who have both a learning impediment and a gift. These kids are some of the toughest puzzles to support. In this workshop, we delve into how 2e can present and look at strategies to support these learners.

Progress Monitoring for success

In this workshop, we look at how progress monitoring can be an effective tool to screen for struggling learners and determine if an intervention is effective or not. Come away with practical tools to tweak your interventions to your learners’ individual needs.

Structured Literacy – Level 2

This is the second level of training for those looking for accreditation or wanting to deepen their knowledge of evidence-based reading instruction. This course will split into two cohorts at one point. One cohort will focus on classroom-based general instructional strategies, the second cohort will focus on small-group or individual intervention strategies.
