Tech Requirements

Virtual tutoring takes place live, but in your own home through video conferencing software. Much about these sessions is the same as face-to-face tutoring.

Tech requirements are less onerous than you might expect!

General

You will need:

  • Internet access.
  • Video camera either internal to your computer or external.
  • Speakers
  • Headphones are a ‘nice to have‘ if there is a lot of background noise.
  • A mouse.
  • A printer – sometimes you will be printing out activities before class. If you don’t have easy access to a printer let me know.

It is my goal for the technology we use in class to be used to connect and not to frustrate. If you are not confident in your tech skills, have no fear – I will work through any issues that crop up with you. I am not an IT pro, but we can usually sort out problems with a bit of patience and a sense of humour.

Option 1:

  • A computer
  • A tablet + a stylus

Option 2:

  • A computer
  • A white-board + fine-tipped whiteboard markers.

Software Information:

We typically use two main pieces of software. Once you’re in, I will train your child on using them.
