Another fridge magnet game we played this summer :
This time I put the letters in a vertical line and told him that he had to climb the ‘ladder’. As he got to each ‘rung’ he had to say the letter sound.
I had roughly put the letters in order that varied between easy ones for him and harder ones for him so that he wouldn’t get discouraged as he went. This game is trickier than the Reading Rockets game because he has to do more work – he has to see the letter and then think about what sound it makes without any prompting from me.
Typically it’s a good idea to do both types of games, starting with the easier version as a warm up. We did it as a warm up before playing Nogs of Notch Hill.
