Mistake #2: Teaching the upper case first
Every where you look around you, you will see alphabet tools in either the upper case or in both cases. There’s 26 letters in the alphabet, 52 if you include both cases. That’s a little overwhelming, so start with one case initially. Almost everything that is written around us is written in the lower case so it makes more sense to start there. Sure the upper case is a little easier to write, but we don’t often write it so better to start as you mean to go on.
